Commonwealth Data Systems, Inc. does engage in joint ventures with firms of various sizes, and across the spectrum of market categories. We offer our software engineering expertise, and both lead project teams and participate on teams headed by other project team leaders. We are a dynamic, flexible firm, employee owned, and open to discussion of roles and terms. We have never produced a product or even a software tool for resale, and have no intentions of ever doing so; our core business expertise exists in the software engineering arena and we have enjoyed success by limiting our corporate activities to that arena. Firms which both do consulting work and sell products run the risk of an appearance of impropriety, which is simply not acceptable on either a moral or an ethical basis to the owners of Commonwealth Data Systems Incorporate. Generally, firms approach us with a Joint Venture in order to minimize their up-front cost of software development. We have contributed: Initial Product Analyses: Including marketplace expertise, competitive analyses, price/point analyses, feature/function breakouts across product versions, short term and long term planning including technical support, subsequent versions and overall marketing strategy. Product Design & Engineering: Professional Software Engineering disciplines and techniques, augmented by extensive real-world experience designing, developing, implementing and supporting complex systems on platforms varying from IBM Mainframes (EDS, 1979-1983), Mid-Size Unix platforms like DEC and Sequent (Contractors to Navy, Subs to DoD contracts 1983-1990), and our current focus on LANs and client/server systems with emphasis on www and internet integration (MCI, Various Gov't Agencies, Large, Medium and small private sector firms 1990-1996).
